For many years Hythe & Waterside Rotary has organised a Christmas concert for the people of the Waterside particularly those of advancing years. They have been supported in the past by the Hampshire Police Band and the New Forest Bands. It has become increasingly costly to arrange these events and find a venue. During 2020 due to COVID- 19 it was, of course, completely impossible to put on the event. ey are very privileged in the Club to have a member who is a gi ed, active, professional musician, Anthony Carter (2nd left in photo). Tony has played with many famous bands including that of Chris Barber. It was Tony’s idea, rather than do nothing he would organise a group of his chums to record a short set of Christmas music for distribution in their local area. ey happily agreed to appear pro bono. e session was recorded by Tony Sin eld on a very cold December morning at Fawley Rugby Club following strict social distancing regulations. The Club would like to thank Tony and his chums for their very generous contribution to the Club’s Christmas efforts and to Tony Sin eld for producing a well edited video. e video can be found on their Facebook page (Rotary Club of Hythe and Waterside) Tony Carter and his band at the recording Local Footcare Clinics Age Concern New Forest will be holding a very di erent AGM this year on Saturday 30th January 2021 at 2pm. Due to COVID-19 it will be held on Zoom for members and sta only. ey hope the next AGM later in 2021 will be back to normal and more open to all interested parties, where they can again have their usual tea party and share all the news of the great work they do. HITTING THE COLD SPOTS Age Concern New Forest’s Footcare Clinics are still running at the following venues: Hythe Community Centre, Totton & Eling Community Centre and Blackfield Methodist Church Hall. e service is for those aged 60+ resident in the Age Concern New Forest area. e charity which is based in Dibden Purlieu aims to provide access to a foot care service for anyone who nds it di cult to cut their own nails.
