From an excellent education back then at the start with Standard Life, to today with Oyster in our new home in central Hythe. It has been some journey with many changes in our industry. One thing that has never changed though is my view on what being a Financial Adviser means. On my rst day at Standard Life our branch manager asked all the adviser team to draw on a ip chart what being a nancial adviser meant to them. Various aspirational drawings were presented by my colleagues. Mine was quite simple ‘a red cross’. I said back then as a young and keen 24-year-old that all I wanted to do was help people, and 24 years later nothing has changed. We have grown a very client focused Financial Planning practice since then, to where we are today, and the best reward I can take from my business is the smile I get from clients when they can see their long- held goals and objectives being achieved. Whether that is retiring 5 years earlier than they thought was possible or showing them, they can start a new career doing something they have a passion for or just gi ing money to a family member to help them get on in life.
