So any help in enabling businesses to make tentative steps on the road to recovery is crucial. ere will be light at the end of the tunnel! Apprenticeships will be more important than ever in helping businesses to recruit the right people – both now and long term. Due to the economic impact of COVID-19 the government introduced incentive payments for hiring a new apprentice to help organisations offer new apprenticeships. These incentives have been extended until the end of March 2021 . It’s not too late to receive up to £3,000 for recruiting a new apprentice as part of the Chancellors’ ‘Plan for Jobs’ which introduced a range of incentives for employers to support jobs by focusing on skills and young people. e Southampton Engineering Training Association (SETA) is supporting employers to understand the range of incentives available and how they can assist their organisation. SETA, based at Millbrook, Southampton, wants to make sure that local employers do not miss out on the government nancial incentives available to all employers to invest in their workforce with apprenticeship programmes. Apprenticeships are jobs with vocational training which lead to an apprenticeship qualification upon completion. SETA o ers support with a range of engineering apprenticeships including electrical, mechanical, design & draughtsperson, welding and fabrication to name a few. Take a look at the SETA website for current vacancies in the local area. Julie Gough, Managing Director commented: “ SETA will continue to support and work with local employers to ensure that they make the most of the government incentives when looking to invest in their staff and future workforce through engineering apprenticeship programmes helping to provide the vital skills needed for recovery.” She continues: “The incentives go some way in helping to get the economy back on its feet after the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic as the need for a highly skilled workforce will be more important than ever. By investing now we are creating tomorrow’s engineers.” If you would like to speak to SETA about the new incentives available, or to see how they could support your business with apprenticeships or upskilling existing sta then please contact Nick Hinks, Business Development Manager, nhinks@seta- training.co.uk or visit their website at :www.setatraining.co.uk TIME IS RUNNING OUT – DON’T MISS THE CASH INCENTIVES DEADLINES FOR APPRENTICES
