The late spring bank holiday brings an unexpected treat: the chance to experience the best views of the New Forest National Park from the top deck of the New Forest Tour. From Saturday 29th May to Sunday 12th Septembe r, Morebus and Bluestar - in partnership with the New Forest Park Authority - is resuming the open-top bus experience for 2021. It is a popular and much- anticipated day out among visitors, and those who are lucky enough to live in and around the beautiful National Park. With this wonderful corner of the UK now emerging from another lockdown, the Tour operator is excited to be o ering an incredible panoramic perspective of the New Forest’s many gems. e longer season enables more people to access the Tour, which o ers three routes and a exible hop-on, hop-o ticket to access discounts at attractions and places of interest along the way. An audio commentary tells the story of the history and special qualities of the landscape, and the people who live and work in it. Last year, the team worked hard to ensure the Tour eet was ready. ere were stringent cleaning regimes in place, focusing on ‘touch points’. Government advice will again be followed and detailed on their website. With free bus travel on connecting bus services, this is a great opportunity for people to leave their cars at home and escape the challenges of the past few months. Customers can immerse themselves in the delights of the New Forest National Park and let someone else do the driving! Tickets can be purchased directly from the driver on the day of travel, or in advance via the website. With the fabulous news that Hythe Ferry will continue to operate, Tour customers are reminded that they can travel from Southampton for free if they purchase a Tour ticket at Town Quay. In a further coup for sustainable travel, transport providers are working closely and planning to introduce a multi-modal rail/bus/ferry ticket - e Waterside Wanderer - to provide an opportunity to leave the car at home and visit the Waterside using one ticket for all modes. e o er will be all-year-round, and more details will follow soon. Like many local clubs, Waterside Wooodcarvers have e ectively been ‘on hold’ for almost a year. ey know member’s work and there would be room for other cra groups to join in. ey know how important the social side of these clubs can be. So if you are part of a local cra club and would like to join them at St Andrew’s on 18th September, please get in touch with Di Smith on: dianasmith291@ btinternet.com their members have really missed the camaraderie and support that their regular workshops and socials have provided. However, looking ahead, they are optimistic about the summer and autumn and have booked the large hall at St Andrew’s, Dibden Purlieu for the a ernoon of Saturday 18th September . With such a good, large indoor space and adjacent free parking, they plan to have an exhibition of their Exquisite shuttlecock carved in wood by Pippa Smith
