By assisting with day-to-day needs means that you (or your loved ones) can stay in the comfort of your own home, safe in the knowledge that you will be looked a er and cared for like a member of the family. Local Mum to four and Waterside Home Help Owner Ruth Coumbe has spent many years working in the care sector. As a Senior Care Lead in a nursing home Ruth is medically trained, quali ed, and highly experienced. Ruth however saw that there was a ‘gap’ when it came to providing care in the home. Ruth says: “Many individuals I previously cared for needed companionship and assistance in the home, rather than specific personal care needs. Someone to provide cleaning and laundry, grocery shopping, meal preparation and transport to and from appointments. Sometimes it’s about sitting with someone for a natter over dinner; to ensure they have a home cooked meal and a friendly ear – this service can be invaluable to family members as it provides reassurance that their loved ones are being given the time needed. Continuity of care is vital for an individual’s well-being, forming a relationship to give someone confidence is key and that’s why I guarantee it will always be the same helper at the same time of day…routine is reassurance to so many. At Waterside Home Help personal care is not provided, meaning the cost of visits are kept low at an hourly rate of £15, this is signi cantly less than the cost of a carers visits. Appointments are also completely exible and visit times can be adjusted on an ad-hoc basis to suit the need of the client each week. ere are also no contracts so individuals can stop or increase visits accordingly. We are a proud nation, and so many individuals don’t like to call on “favours” or “put on” volunteers – if you or your family member can relate to this then please get in touch. e carefully picked helpers all have experience in Social Care and are fully trained, insured and DBS checked. Like to give it a try? The first one hour visit is FREE so you can decide for yourself if this is something that will suit your needs. All helpers are tested weekly for COVID-19 and follow strict government guidelines, wearing PPE at all times during the visit and limit personal contact where possible. Please get in touch for an informal chat on: 07565 428139 or email: info@watersidehomehelp.co.uk For the past few months, and until they can resume their regular activity groups, Government Guidelines have enabled Greenbuttercup C.I.C to run a monthly ‘Dementia Support Group’ in Romsey for a limited number of people living with Dementia and their carers/relatives. is is being organised on a month-by-month basis, due to the uncertainty of the COVID-19 situation. If anyone is interested in joining in, please contact Pamela on: Pamela@shadow26.plus.com or: 01794 501605 for more details on the next event and what precautions they are taking to enable them to be as COVID-secure as possible.
