Zoom has played a major part in recent communications; from games, learning new cra s, cookery skills, and has even linked members together for virtual tea parties. Fi y years ago the County of Hampshire had split into three, East, West and North and preparations had been made to celebrate this anniversary, but sadly celebrations have had to be put on hold until they meet again. Jane was pleased to report that two new Guilds had been established during the year, Marchwood and Southampton North West. e winner of their Annual Quiz was Windhover Guild. Janet Skiba, Girlguiding Hampshire West County Commissioner attended the meeting, providing an update as to what was happening in the world of Girlguiding. At the end of her presentation, it gave her pleasure to award Jane Suswain with a twenty year bar for services to Girlguiding, especially with 2nd Dibden Purlieu Brownies. Jane presented a Gold Voyage Award to Karen Gardner, from the Woodside Guild and Karen told of the challenges she had accomplished to complete the award. Closing the meeting, Jane reminded the group of all the activities to look forward to again (hopefully soon) when members can get together; walking, singing, cra ing, travelling and having a wonderful time. Following the success of a pilot project led by youth charity, No Limits, at Southampton General Hospital, additional funding from the County Council will enable similar support to be provided at both Winchester and Basingstoke hospital emergency departments, for those up to the age of 25. Councillor Grajewski, said: “Evidence from the Southampton ED project shows that getting young people the right help at the right time, supporting them to manage their emotions and offering coping strategies, can be key to preventing further serious harm. This project is focused on working positively with young people who are dealing with complex problems and who find themselves at crisis point, supporting them to make the right choices about their future.” e expansion of the programme will see specialist youth workers embedded in the Emergency Departments of the two hospitals. From here, they will provide hands-on emotional and wellbeing support, ensuring individuals, and their families, are signposted to the appropriate health, counselling and support services. In addition, the grant will contribute to the training of clinical sta in the Emergency Departments to be able to further support young people in crisis. Alice Mooney, Service Manager at No Limits, said: “We’re really pleased to be extending the support we can give young people in this way. Often they are at their most vulnerable and in need when we meet them, and therefore willing to seek help - and this way of working means we are well placed to provide the meaningful support they need.” e £36,744 grant agreed by Councillor Grajewski is part of a coordinated programme of work being implemented in Hampshire to tackle serious violence, funded by the Home O ce. e budget for the grant is from the speci c Violence Reduction Unit funds received from the Home O ce via the O ce for Police and Crime Commissioner for Hampshire for 2020/21. The charity ‘No Limits’ offers free confidential information, advice, advocacy, support and counselling to children and young people under the age of 26 years. Extra Help for Young People in Crisis
