In reality these are small annoyances, but, just like dripping taps they can very quickly become major irritations. O en we allow small, day to day things, to build in scale as we notice them more and then start focussing on them completely. And if some of your little habits grow, they can soon start dominating your daily life. When does one drink become too many and then something that is relied on each day, or the snacking become as important as the main meal. If you have allowed a minor irritation or habit to really impact on your life then hypnotherapy can help set you free. But we are hearing from many blind and partially sighted people who are anxious about public spaces becoming busier and have lost con dence in going outside a er a year of COVID-19 restrictions. Measures to enforce social distancing o en rely on the ability to see things like signs, queuing systems, or barriers. When you can’t see these changes, they can create new obstacles to navigate and further erode con dence. We’re asking the public to help us safely social distance as the restrictions change. By being aware of the challenges we might face, and simply asking if assistance is needed, you can help us keep our independence and stay safe. We’re also calling for local authorities and businesses to take action, so that measures designed to protect us are inclusive to everyone, not just to those who can see them. RNIB’s website has more information about this. e ‘new normal’ should be as open and inclusive as possible, to help everyone get back outside – not make it more di cult.
