And as we’re still under restrictions for how many people we can have inside our homes, the best (and safest) way to get together this year is still in your garden. In 2020, we all embraced a much more alfresco way of living to make the most of getting outside whenwe could. So, with longer Lights We’re obsessed with lights for the garden. ey make summer nights feel that little bit more magical and are easy to put up no matter what size garden you have. Winding lights around balcony railings, across the tops of fences, hanging from the ceiling of your pergola or trailing across low walls or borders will all bring a smidge of style to your space. ere are plenty of light styles to choose from too (fairy lights, festoon lights, waterfall lights, tube lighting… the list goes on) and you can easily buy lights online or from most hardware stores. Getting your summer garden ready doesn’t have to be time consuming. Some small steps will help you get it ready for spending time with loved ones this year and plenty of happy memories. If you need a little help with the bigger tasks, we’re always on hand to help. Call us on: 07879 552227 or email: info@ crowngardensandlandscapes. co.uk summer evenings and warmer temperatures on the horizon, it’s time to get your summer garden ready for some lazy evenings, a glass of wine and a sizzling BBQ. If you’ve neglected your garden over the winter then don’t panic, these quick xes will get your garden back up and looking beautiful in no time. Patio and decking We’ve all got that one area in our garden where nothing grows. No matter what you try. One of the best ways you can revive parts of your garden that look a bit barren is to get some patio or decking in place and turn it into a seating or BBQ area. Even small spaces can be turned into cosy corners where you can sit and watch the night draw in. Consider how you might want your patio or decking to look. Do you want a roof of some kind too? Maybe some trellis to make a secluded snug where climbing, fragrant plants like Honeysuckle can bring in the sweet scents of summer? Ideal Home has some great ideas to help you turn that dead spot into a dreamy summer space. Bring in the paint A splash of colour can transform any garden into a sight for sore eyes. No matter the size of your garden, or balcony, you can bring colour into the space in so many ways with paint. Fences, decking, brickwork, and furniture can all be splashed with outdoor paints – even your rusty old gates can get the treatment with some rust paint. You can paint your boring old plant pots too or you could choose to buy some bright coloured pots to get you started with minimal e ort. Hanging baskets Late spring is the best time to put up hanging baskets that will last into late summer. ey don’t need much space and can be hung on balconies, walls, fences and pergolas to create some height and bursts of bright colour. Picking plants that are low maintenance and don’t need dead- heading means that you don’t have to be green ngered to look a er them either. Lobelia, Cape Daisies and Begonia are great hanging basket plants that will bring lots of colour into your summer garden. You can even plant tomatoes and strawberries in hanging baskets if you want to try something di erent.
