There are so many items being thrown away with minor faults which can normally be fixed by their team of repairers. While they can never guarantee to fix all items, they will always give it a good go! If they cannot repair it they are able to give advice on the repair items and will also PAT test electrical items once they have worked on them. simple problem then they will always have a look. Subject to availability of repairers they may also be able to o er small sewing repairs. A er your repair is completed all they ask for is a voluntary donation towards the cost of the hall and any money raised over cost will go to the Community Centre. Totton Repair Cafés are running on Saturday 21st August and Saturday 16th October. They will be open from 10.30am until 1pm at Totton & Eling Community Centre. Please feel free to pop down & see what it’s all about and have a chat & if you have the necessary talents, please go along and volunteer as a repairer. For further details please contact the Totton & Eling Community Centre on: 023 8086 3769 or email: tottonrepaircafe@gmx.co.uk When people take an item to the Café, they will be greeted by their front of house organisers who will book the item in and allocate it to an appropriate repairer. Once the repairer begins working on the item they ask the owner to stay and observe how the repairs are done. If they are simple repairs, it may be that people can then repair other things for themselves in future. In some cases, owners have become repairers at future events. At each event they have a café and waiting area, with cake, biscuits & hot drinks to make it into a social event as well. Even if you have nothing to be repaired you are welcome to pop down and have a cuppa & see how it all works. ( ey do ask for a donation for refreshments to cover costs) Some repair cafés have bike repairs as well, they can’t o er this service at the moment but if you have a Make New and Mend - Volunteer repairers hard at work A LOCAL CRAFT CLUB FAIR? Like many local clubs, Waterside Wooodcarvers have e ectively been ‘on hold’ for almost a year. ey know their members have really missed the camaraderie and support that their regular workshops and socials have provided. However, looking ahead, they are optimistic about the summer and autumn and have booked the large hall at St Andrew’s, Dibden Purlieu for the a ernoon of Saturday 18th September . With such a good, large indoor space and adjacent free parking, they plan to have an exhibition of their member’s work and there would be room for other cra groups to join in. ey know how important the social side of these clubs can be. So if you are part of a local cra club and would like to join them at St Andrew’s on 18th September, please get in touch with Di Smith on: dianasmith291@btinternet.com
