Several members also won their age category including, Dan Latham (S), Mick Anglim (V70), Alice Rudd (S), Jane Hodge (V60) and Chris Harris (V70) . In total 22 men and 17 women competed from Hardley Runners. In the winning men’s team were Callum Johnson, Simon Ibbotson, Matt Casey, Paul Blundell and Dan Latham. e women’s team comprised of Alice Rudd, Karen Denham, Hannah Cockle and Jane Hodge. CC6 is a friendly low-key league, organised by the timed runs and submitted their results for collation. Hannah Cockle, CC6 coordinator for the Hardley Runners, is delighted with the results . “I’m so proud of our members, and of the league, for adapting so admirably to challenging circumstances. We all love to run and compete, so it’s been a tough year, but these races have helped us focus and stay motivated”. e Hardley Runners want to help EVERYONE on the Waterside achieve their running goal, whether an accomplished runner, a lapsed runner or an absolute beginner. In ‘normal’ times events are held in the winter and are free, taking place once a month on Sunday mornings, between October and March. Distances are between 4 and 5 miles. ere’s no need to enter in advance - members just turn up on the day wearing their club shirt and run! When the pandemic struck, the league quickly adapted races to take place ‘virtually’. Following both COVID-19 guidelines and league rules, club members undertook Alice Rudd, age category winner at the CC6 Cross Country League series Bramshott Hill Team v Bramshaw As the spring May weather continues to think it is January, 40 Bramshott Hill Seniors took to the Dibden Golf Course for a Stableford Quali er competition. e only remarkable point was that so many competitors took part in such poor conditions. e results were as follows: Division 1: 1st Paul Wastel, 2nd Peter Paine, 3rd Trelford Douglas. Division 2: 1st Ron Gooding, 2nd David Kellaway, 3rd Ray Dunkason . Division 3: 1st John Bailey, 2nd Alan Flaxman, 3 rd Jeffrey Andrews. On ursday 20th May Bramshott Hill Seniors played an interclub match at Dibden Golf Course against a team from Bramshaw. Once again, the weather gods insisted that it was still winter and the weather was rather inclement. e weather and Bramshaw defeated some of them, they ended up second, or runners up, the nal score being 2 matches to BHGC Seniors and 4 matches to Bramshaw Seniors. ey all enjoyed the company of their Bramshaw visitors and a er the golf the day was rounded o by a splendid dinner. On Monday 24th May Bramshott Hill Seniors played a Medal Quali er at Dibden Golf Course. e weather really decided to show them how bad it can be and was atrocious. 34 players started out but only 27 players BRAMSHOTT HILL SENIORS RESULTS completed the course and returned their score cards. e results of the heroic nishers were as follows; Division 1: Stuart Bulbrooke 78 (G) 13 (H) 65 (N), Brian Lewis 87 (G) 17 (H) 70 (N), Edward Piggin 95 (G) 22 (H) 73 (N). Division 2: David Kellaway 98 (G) 28 (H) 70 (N), Brian Cox 107 (G) 30 (H) 77 (N), Derek Christian 110 (G) 31 (H) 79 (N). (G) Gross (H) H/Cap (N) Nett e gremlins that control the weather have promised them better conditions for their next match against a team from New Forest Golf Club. Despite the threatening clouds, it again stayed mostly dry, but rather chilly, as 36 New Forest Golf Club Seniors competed for the Harry Young Cup – a strokeplay competition with the trophy going to the person with the best gross score for 18 holes o the white tees. Overall winner was Ivor Griffiths who, with a gross score of 82 won the Harry Young Cup for the fourth time . Prizes are also awarded to those with the best nett scores in each division: Division 1: 1st - Robin Swanston - nett 67, 2nd - Ross Matthews - nett 69, 3rd - David Senior - nett 70. Division 2: 1st - Colin Chatten - nett 74, 2nd - Ian Hall - nett 74, 3rd - Peter Neville - nett 75. Harry Young Cup Harry Young Cup Winner, Ivor Griffiths e weather stayed dry and quite warm under threatening skies when a strong eld of 47 New Forest Golf Club Seniors members contested the Tommy Trotter Trophy on Tuesday 11th May. Laurie Burns ended his round at the top of Division 1 with a highly convincing 40 points, while Alan Clifford came in with an even more impressive 45 points to head Division 2, win the Trophy and earn him a place in the Seniors team scheduled to play in the New Forest Golf Club Pro Am Tournament later in the year. Full results were: Division 1: 1st Laurie Burn 40pts, 2nd Terry Gordon 36pts, 3rd Peter Ayers 35pts; Division 2: 1st Alan Clifford 45pts, 2nd Geoff Eade 42pts, 3rd Frank Lockley 37pts. Alan Clifford wins Tommy Trotter Trophy Alan Clifford scoops the Tommy Trotter Trophy Tuesday 18th May brought not only another dry and warm day, but also an enthusiastic eld of New Forest Golf Club seniors contest the Millennium Shield in a Stableford competition o the white tees. Laurie Burn headed Division 1 with a highly creditable 36 points, but the trophy went to NFGC Seniors captain Ian Coundon in Division 2 who scored an impressive 45 points. Full results were: Division 1: 1st Laurie Burn 36pts, 2nd Ken Scott 35pts, 3rd Ray Kelly 34pts; Division 2: 1st Ian Coundon 45pts, 2nd Ian Hall 38pts, 3rd Harry Maitland 36pts. Captain Coundon Takes the Shield Millennium Shield awarded to NFGC Seniors Captain, Ian Coundon On Tuesday 25th May, in this club-wide stableford competition o the white tees, one of the New Forest Golf Club Men’s section had already set an extremely high bar two days earlier with an impressive 40 points. Despite none of New Forest Seniors quite scoring su ciently high to take the Reavley Chain trophy itself, a very good day was had by all, and prizes were awarded: Division 1: 1st – Paul Tatler 36 points, 2nd – Ken Scott 36 points, 3rd – Hugh Marchant 33 points.
