Langley WI’s next meeting will be on Tuesday 20th July for a talk titled ‘ e P&O Line’ by Steve Herra, followed on Tuesday 21st September for a talk titled ‘Behind the Veil’ by Sandra Simmons. In August they will be holding a special Garden Party. Langley WI meet every third Tuesday at St Francis Church Hall, West Common, SO45 1XU at 7.30pm. Visitors are always very welcome. Held at their Netley Marsh Workshops, Ringwood Road, Netley Marsh, SO40 7GY, browse the tools, haberdashery and garden tools for sale before enjoying a cuppa and a piece of cake in their garden or to take away. Whilst enjoying a nice a ernoon, you will be supporting the charity to raise vital funds a er the pandemic, which brought the workshop to a close. It is wonderful to hear the chatter around the workbenches as volunteers from across the New Forest and Southampton have recently come back together to refurbish tools a er the lockdown isolated them all. is is their rst tool sale, post-pandemic, in celebration of Tools for Self Reliance’s annual Tea for Tools fundraising week. Each pound you spend will support opportunities for people in Uganda, Sierra Leone, Zambia, Ghana and Malawi to rebuild their lives a er the pandemic when they join their vocational training projects to learn a trade, and be equipped with donated tools refurbished by their UK volunteers. Support your Local Theatres Glyndebourne at Beaulieu Glyndebourne at Beaulieu is on! is very popular concert promoted jointly by Music at Beaulieu and the Wessex Glyndebourne Association will feature popular pieces from the Glyndebourne repertoire and will take place on Saturday 24th July at Beaulieu Abbey Church. Exceptionally this year because of government rules limiting the number of tickets they may sell, there will be two performances, one at 6pm (doors open at 5.45pm) and another at 8.30pm (doors open at 8.15pm). Each performance will last one hour and there will be no interval. In ne weather many members of the audience like to follow the Glyndebourne tradition and picnic either before or a er the performance on the Abbey Church meadow.
