Hence most sites of railway interest were seen this year; subsequent visits only providing a small number of additional venues. ere are several active preserved tourist lines, notably the Zig-Zag line; Cairns – Kuranda; Pu ng Billy and Pichi-Richi in the eastern states, along with the Hotham Valley (in WA) and the Don River (in Tasmania). Aditionally there are museums in Melbourne and Perth, with working depots at irlmere, Cowra, Mount Barker and Peterborough. Keen volunteers travel long distances to keep operations going! Find them at: www.railwayclubo henewforest.org Waterside Art Group Art and Craft Exhibition Waterside Art Group members may have had little opportunity to meet on their normal Tuesday art meetings during the various lockdowns but they have been exceedingly busy at home and some have even been learning new cra s. erefore their exhibition this year will include a variety of cra items as well as paintings. e very di erent situation everyone is going through has given them the incentive to take a fresh look at their exhibition presentation so visitors can expect to see an exciting show. e exhibition will be held at Hythe and Dibden Community Centre (o Jones Lane in Hythe) from Monday 2nd August to Saturday 7th August , 10am to 4pm each day. New for this year will be items of woodturning, carving and embroidery. Art works will include a variety of media including oils, acrylics, watercolours, pencil, pastel and others. e range of subjects will be equally diverse and will include landscapes, still life, abstract, oral and animal portraits. ere will be a special display of ‘Vaccine Hero’ portraits by one of their members. Also one of the members, Sue ompson, has written a book for children called ‘Once upon A Summer Mystery’. e book is beautifully illustrated with Sue’s watercolour paintings.
