Marion also received birthday greetings fromDr Julian Lewis MP and Hythe & Dibden Parish Chairman Philip Dowd, as well as from other close friends from the village and those who had travelled from further a eld. A er all the singing and cheering everyone enjoyed a birthday bu et and cake at the Lord Nelson pub. en serving in the WRNS Marion was just 21 on D-Day 6th June 1944. She has remained passionate about keeping alive the memory of all the brave Allied servicemen and women who fought for our freedom. Marion has usually spent her birthdays busy organising D-Day commemorations at Exbury as the previous Chair of the Exbury Veterans Association (EVA) and has plans to travel to the Normandy D-Day commemorations next year for her 101st birthday.
