Having successfully introduced Nordic Walking to so many residents of the New Forest, Nordic Walking Brockenhurst is delighted to be expanding into the Ashurst/Dibden/Southampton areas with the addition of a new Instructor, Sue Gravells. As now, more than ever, it’s vital to be t and healthy, it’s good to know that those who have discovered that they enjoy walking can progress this sport to the next level in the beautiful surroundings of the Forest with no need to visit a gym! Suzanne Madden, who set up this club seven years ago says: “It’s been really rewarding to see how many people have taken up this new hobby since the beginning of the first lockdown and how much it’s helped them both physically and mentally” . One of the club’s newer members, Claire from Southampton, who joined last summer, says it was lockdown that made her realise just how much she loves being outside rather than stuck in a gym and was delighted to nd a form of exercise where she can work 96% of her muscles simply by using the poles (with the correct technique of course!). Claire says: “The benefits are numerous - I’ve particularly enjoyed a reduction in my bingo wings and am more aware of my core - it really is so much more than just a walk - a proper workout!” . Claire, New instructor, Sue, came across Nordic walking a er the rst lockdown last year. Asked what motivated her to become a Nordic Walking instructor, Sue said: “When using the poles, I feel a lift and momentum I’ve never experienced whilst walking before - it makes me feel good - it makes me smile and I’d like to give others the chance to experience this too!”.
