A group of people with Dementia and their relatives/carers spent a morning at the Community Allotment in Romsey, helping members of Transition Town Romsey (who are guardians of the allotment) weed, seed and plant various vegetables. ere was also fruit to pick, and rhubarb to take home for tea. ose who were not a fan of the sun, or of gardening, sheltered under the gazebo and made bird-scarers from recycled CDs and bottle tops, to hang over the planted raised borders. At tea break they were able at long last to enjoy some delicious cupcakes! Donations for the cakes totalled £30, which has been sent o to the Alzheimer’s Society. e bird-scarers were then hung up, and now provide an attractive addition to the allotment.
