Handmade in Merrythought’s historic British factory, e Royal British Legion Poppy Bear will help to raise vital funds for serving and ex-serving members of the British Armed Forces, as well as their families and dependents. Fourth-generation Managing Director, Sarah Holmes, said she was delighted to unveil this unique teddy bear. “Myself and the team here at Merrythought are Director in 1949,” she explained. “Whether a gift for someone special, or a memento to remember a loved one by, this bear not only celebrates the huge milestone in the charity’s history, but I hope that it will be a much-loved member of people’s families for generations to come.” Earlier this year Merrythought launched ‘ e Royal British Legion Centenary Bear’, which is fully dressed in a detailed WW1 veteran’s uniform, complete with replica medals and poppy pin badge. e new Poppy Bear, which is lled with 100 per cent recycled bre, has been made to a limited edition of 1921 pcs to mark the year the Royal British Legion was founded. Ben France, Head of Corporate Partnerships at the Royal British Legion, commented: “We are pleased to be working with Merrythought. This special bear makes a great keepsake for those wishing to mark our 100th birthday. For every bear sold, Merrythought will make a generous donation to the Royal British Legion to help continue our nation’s legacy of gratitude and support for our Armed Forces community.” Merrythought teddy bears are world-renowned, each one handmade in a delicate, 15-stage process which uses the nest skills and natural materials. e Royal British Legion Poppy Bear is priced at £145, with a minimum donation of £15 going to the charity.
