O ering new accommodation to people over 55, Nightingale Lodge – named a er Victorian icon and former Romsey resident Florence Nightingale – is a new community development being delivered by Places for People Living Plus in partnership with Test Valley Borough Council and Hampshire County Council. e team is opening up two of Nightingale Lodge’s 54 homes for viewings. Customers can visit a brand new, two-bedroom show apartment, o ered for sale through shared ownership, with residents able to purchase between 25% and 75% of the home’s full value. Tom Brown, National Retirement Living Manager for Places for People Living Plus said: “There’s so much anticipation for this development which will offer new ways of living for local people, so I’m delighted to now be able to welcome customers inside. By opening up the space for the first time we hope to give customers the perfect starting point as they imagine life at Nightingale Lodge.” Councillor Liz Fairhurst, Hampshire County Council’s Executive Lead Member for Adult Services and Public Health said: “Nightingale Lodge is one of a number of ‘Extra Care’ developments across Hampshire in which the County Council is investing, to provide independent living for older people but with care and support on-site 24/7. Wellbeing is boosted with landscaped outdoor space; in addition to the terraces and patios for each home there is a large residents’ garden. e community also boasts several extra care facilities – including 24-hour onsite care, commissioned by Hampshire County Council. Residents will also bene t from a wellness suite, hair and beauty salon, a restaurant to enjoy meals with other residents or guests, and a communal lounge which will be a hub for social activities. The club takes places through Zoom video- conferencing on the fourth Tuesday of every month. Recipes are provided in advance, so you have plenty of time to get the ingredients. Cook that morning and then join Vegetarian for Life Chef Justina, along with attendees from across the UK, at 1pm. Recipes take a di erent theme each month - from a Pies & Pastries Week, boasting Mushroom & Ale Pies and Pu Pastry Tartlets, through to One-Pot Wonders such as Carrot, Ginger & Orange Soup and Versatile Stew - you’ll get to make and enjoy a wide variety of tasty dishes.
