Helping me to get a Blue Badge, by filling the forms for me and enabling me to get allowance to help with buying disability equipment” A well-deserved nomination – congratulations Jane from the Herald Community Information and Advice Manager, Jane Archer with her certificate and pin badge Members of Greenbuttercup CIC are delighted to announce that they have recently been awarded a grant from the ‘We’re all Together’ fund administered by ‘Hampshire & isle of Wight Community Foundation’. e money is to provide a ‘Transport Fund’ to enable those without their own transport or suitable public transport to attend the meetings. is will help many people with Dementia who have been shielding/house-bound over the past year, to get out and enjoy some social interaction once more. Regular Dementia Services resumed in September with members of Greenbuttercup CIC running two di erent activity groups in the Green Room at the Plaza eatre, Romsey. e Green Room is an accessible, Covid-secure venue. Parking is available behind the theatre in the non-numbered spaces, and entry is by the side entrance via the ramp. All volunteers are Dementia Friends and in order to keep everyone as safe as possible, Greenbuttercup CIC will continue to adhere to some COVID-19 precautions for these sessions. e aim is to make these sessions as welcoming and safe as possible. On the first Friday of the month , they will be holding a fun ‘Arts & Crafts’ session from 10.30am – 12.30pm for anyone living with Dementia and their relative/carer. No experience is necessary, and each month they will have a di erent activity for you to try - with something suitable for all abilities. ere is a charge of £3 per person, which covers all art materials, instruction, and tea/co ee with biscuits. If you are unsure as to whether ‘Arts & Cra s’ is for you, why not go along and have a go – the first session is free. On the third Friday of the month , they will be holding a series of themed reminiscence sessions - again from 10.30am – 12.30pm for anyone living with Dementia and their relative/carer. e monthly themed ‘Reminiscence Activity Group’ will incorporate sensory work where possible. ese sessions will be a mix of reminiscence, games and an activity or talk. ere will be something suitable for all abilities and stages of Dementia. ere will be a charge of £3 per person, which covers all activities, and tea/co ee with biscuits. e following sessions will be held in October: Friday 1st October Arts & Crafts - ‘Halloween Masks’ Why not have a go at making a mask - which is purely decorative, and has nothing to do with COVID-19!! Friday 15th October 2021 Reminiscence Activity Group – ‘Shopping & Romsey Shops’ Reminisce about shopping and advertising from yesteryear. en listen to local historian Phoebe Merrick talk about the changing face of some of Romsey’s shops.
