Meetings start at 7.30pm at Hanger Farm in Totton, and their next meeting takes place on Tuesday 12th October for a talk by Stuart Pocock titled ‘Pruning Your Roses’. Charity Celebrates Supporters’ Return A charity in Hampshire has welcomed its supporters back to its headquarters in-person a er a long 14 months of restrictions. Learning disability charity Minstead Trust welcomed people back with a picnic party in the beautiful grounds of Minstead Lodge near Lyndhurst in July. e Trust supports more than 200 adults with learning disabilities across Hampshire to nd work, learn new skills and live in their own homes. Although social distancing remained in place, guests were able to enjoy a relaxed a ernoon lled with cream teas and Pimm’s in the stunning gardens of Minstead Lodge. e Lodge has been closed to the public for over a year due to COVID-19 restrictions so this was a wonderful way to celebrate the easing of restrictions and the warmer weather. Live entertainment was provided by Romsey Ukulele Band and REMbrandt, an REM tribute act. ere were also some great prizes up for grabs in the ra e thanks to support from New Forest Hampers and NMPI Digital Incubeta. e funds raised from the event will help Minstead Trust continue to o er training and support to improve the lives of people with learning disabilities. As well as direct support for people with learning disabilities, the Trust runs social enterprises Furzey Gardens, Hanger FarmArts Centre andMinstead Lodge events venue. All of these social enterprises o er work experience for people with learning disabilities. Usually they meet on the 4th Monday of every month at 7.30pm at e Good Shepherd Community Hall, Roewood Road, Holbury, SO45 2JN but right now, things have changed a bit, due to COVID-19. ey’re still meeting regularly – but virtually (via Zoom instead of face to face) and are currently planning their Meeting Schedule on a rolling 3 month basis. Don’t worry if you’ve never used Zoom before, there’s plenty of help available, so why not give it a try? eir next two meetings are scheduled for Monday 27th September for a talk titled ‘Vision On’ by Twinkle Patel from the local opticians, who will be telling the about life as an optician. Following on Monday 25th October for a talk titled ‘My life in the police force’ (as told through the medium of quilts) tbc. eir Cra Club continues but currently on a virtual basis.
