Unfortunately, the reality is one in two of us will be diagnosed with cancer at some point in our lifetime. However, the smallest gesture really can make the biggest di erence to those a ected, and every year Macmillan supporters up and down the country help raise millions of pounds just by taking part in Co ee Morning. e money raised goes towards funding Macmillan – who rely almost entirely on donations - and their services across the country. is means absolutely every penny raised at a Co ee Morning is cherished and appreciated and really helps them to be able to provide vital support to people with cancer. For example, just £17 could help a member of their Cancer Information and Support team on our Macmillan Support Line deal with a call or web enquiry. £350 could pay for a Macmillan Grant, a one-o payment that helps with the extra costs that living with cancer can bring. ey can be used to buy specialist equipment or to meet other unmet needs, including paying for hospital travel, extra clothing or to help cover the cost of a much-needed break. is year’s Macmillan Co ee Morning will ‘o cially’ take place on Friday 24th September , but please do just get involved whenever and wherever you can. Raising a mug and a few quid for Macmillan really can improve someone’s life. With each edition of the Herald Patricia never ceases to amaze us with the in-depth knowledge, research and enthusiasm she puts into each ‘tale’, and we are thrilled Patricia has been recognised in this way. We receive numerous emails and calls praising Patricia’s words, we only hope she has many, many more tales to tell. A heartfelt thank you Patricia, please keep them coming!
