Entries are open now for the 10k event where participants can raise funds for the area of life-saving research closest to their hearts. Walkers can choose to support di erent areas of scienti c research including prostate cancer, testicular cancer, breast cancer, lung cancer, brain cancer, children’s cancers and leukaemia. Or they can simply give their backing to Cancer Research UK’s overall work as the charity ghts back from the impact of the pandemic. The Shine Night Walk starts at Guildhall Square at 7.30pm and participants will take to the city streets in a fun and inspirational parade of light. e route will pass landmarks such as St Mary’s Stadium and SeaCity Museum. is year, participants will set o on the Shine Night Walk route either alone or in small, socially distanced groups. Hand sanitiser will be provided, and people will be encouraged to use it before and a er the event. e charity was able to spend over £30 million in the South East last year on some of the UK’s leading scienti c and clinical research. And money raised through Shine Night Walk Southampton is crucial to the pioneering work of doctors, nurses and scientists who are ghting cancer on all fronts. People can also show their support by volunteering on the night or visiting the event’s online shop to buy kit including a hoodie and glow sticks, as well as glow face paint sticks and ashing tiaras. Household names like music legend Kiki Dee will be thrilling audiences once again under the beams of the converted 18th century barn in Totton. e season is even more hotly anticipated than usual, coming on the back of dozens of shows being postponed or cancelled due to COVID-19 restrictions over the last year and a half. is was a hugely di cult time for the Arts Centre, which is this autumn, including: • Richard Digance ( 29th October ) • 1970’s comedy theatre show, ‘Abigail’s Party’ ( 11th November ) • Musicians Kiki Dee and Carmelo ( 26th November ) • Tribute act, Abba’s Angels ( 27th November ).
