Learning disability charity Minstead Trust, which is based near Lyndhurst, supports more than 200 adults with learning disabilities across Hampshire to nd work, learn new skills and live in their own homes. Burley Golf Club hosted multiple fundraising activities over the last year, starting with the Lady Captain’s Day, which involved 44 members of the club playing golf in a range of fantastic Disney costumes followed by a lovely lunch at the club house. Jo Clarke, Ladies Captain of Burley Golf Club, said: “We’re delighted to support Minstead Trust for the second year at Burley Golf Club. The ladies had a fabulous day playing golf dressed as Disney Characters a few days before the Captains Charity day, overall (left to right) Maria, James, Jo Clarke, Florrie and Clive Kibblewhite at the Burley Golf Club Fundraising Day Dressed as Disney on Lady Captain’s Day we helped to raise almost £4,000 which was absolutely fantastic.” Later in the week, on Saturday 31st July 2021 a fundraising day was held at Burley Golf Club. is included golfers playing a friendly competition, during which they were able to pause for on course refreshments hosted by Club Captain Clive Kibblewhite. As well as funds raised from competition entry, money was raised through ra es, generous donations from sponsorship and local businesses and an auction. Clive Kibblewhite, Club Captain said: “75 members of The Burley Golf Club enjoyed a day’s golf and had a great time raising money for the Minstead Trust. They all got underway with a shotgun start at midday, with a meal afterwards followed by an auction of the many things that had been donated. It was the highlight of the Captain’s year.” Florrie, who is supported by Minstead Trust, was present as an ambassador for the Trust alongside her parents, James and Maria who both volunteer for the Trust. Florrie did a wonderful job explaining to people about Minstead Trust and how it helps to support her. As well as this, Florrie helped draw names for the ra e and announcing the winners. Earlier this year, the ladies team also booked a group visit to Furzey Gardens, a social enterprise of Minstead Trust, as another way to support and learn more about the Trust. During their visit they were taken for a guided tour by Head Gardener, Pete White. A erwards they enjoyed refreshments from the tea room and learnt more about the plants they had seen, the history of the gardens and gained more of an insight into the skills that the people supported by Minstead Trust gain from their work at the gardens.
