CLOSE COMFORT Since the start of the pandemic, there has been a dramatic rise in the numbers of people that are struggling to get to sleep at night. A young Autistic man who has struggled with anxiety and insomnia for most of his life has nally found the way to get a good night’s sleep and is now helping others to get one too. James launched Aurora Comfort, an online business selling luxurious weighted blankets, at the start of lockdown last year. Research has found that a weighted blanket mimics the e ects a deep pressure massage has on the body and has a calming e ect, which can help you to then relax and sleep better. “The Aurora weighted blanket helps people who have active minds at night despite being exhausted. It helps people on the autistic spectrum, those that struggle with anxiety or stress and people with restless leg syndrome and mild pain. The sensation you receive is like having a hug. This gives an instant feeling of calm which reduces anxiety. You will then feel more relaxed and able to have a better quality sleep.” James, who has Asperger’s and was prescribed melatonin to help him sleep until he became immune, has spent months developing his website and researching the best blankets on the market to sell at a ordable prices. Given his own experience of poor sleep, James is passionate about sharing this simple solution to getting better quality sleep. He sells high quality, long-lasting blankets that come with their own washable cover. is helps to prolong the life of the inner duvet. “The blankets suit most people, even those without sensory issues. I have had superb feedback from people with Autism, ADD, anxiety, insomnia, arthritis, fibromyalgia and restless legs that it helps to ‘calm’ the body.” James stocks several size blankets in di erent weights to nd the perfect match for you.
