Lung disease doesn’t just a ect the lungs; it can have a huge e ect on day-to-day life too. ‘Easy Breathe’ is a respiratory support group is for anyone a ected by or caring for someone with a respiratory condition, o ering the opportunity to get together to share experiences, learn, chat and gain support over a cuppa. e group meets on the second Wednesday of the month at e Coates Centre, a friendly and welcoming drop-in centre set within the grounds of Oakhaven Hospice o Lower Pennington Lane, Lymington, SO41 8ZZ. e next ‘Easy Breathe’ takes place on Wednesday 13th October at 10am until 11am and the session will also o ered on Zoom for anyone who cannot get to the Centre but would still like to take part. On ursday 2nd September I held a garden party in aid of Wessex Waterside Cancer Support Centre, raising a grand sum of £500. I would like to say a big THANK YOU to all the businesses in Hythe and Dibden Purlieu who generously donated ra e prizes for the event. I would also like to thank those who so kindly helped on the day with setting up and clearing away a er the event. I want to extend my gratitude also to friends and neighbours who supported the event by bringing food, along with items for the ra e and bring and buy sale. Most of all a heartfelt thank you goes to everyone who came along and supported this great cause. Guests at the Garden Party Be Well in Your World Oakhaven Wellbeing’s Complementary erapy team is again running its popular and useful workshops, this time face-to-face at the Coates Centre, Lower Pennington Lane, Lymington SO41 8ZZ. Anyone living across the New Forest, Waterside and Totton areas is welcome, particularly if you are living with a life limiting illness, caring for someone, or coping with bereavement. You do not have to be known to Oakhaven as a patient. ‘Learning to Relax’ takes place on Wednesday 20th October from 10am until 12noon. In this two hour session, the team o er insights into the bene ts of relaxation, what makes relaxation di cult, ways that complementary therapies may help and also a simple relaxation script; ending the session with a guided relaxation. Join the team for ‘Managing Insomnia Using Comp Therapy’ to look at makes sleep di cult, useful aromatherapy essential oils and techniques which may improve sleep. e session takes place on Wednesday 27th October from 2pm until 4pm, and ends with a guided relaxation. In the ‘Hand Massage’ session on Wednesday 10th November from 2pm until 4pm, learn how to give yourself a simple hand massage treatment for self-care and the essential oils to use to help nourish your skin and boost your mood. You will need a small towel and some cream or oil for the massage (please note that this is not a certi cated workshop). On Wednesday 24th November from 10am until 12noon, join An Introduction to Aromatherapy to discover the bene ts of Aromatherapy and essential oils. Spend some time smelling di erent essential oils and make an Aromatherapy product to use at home.
