WOOLLY ANGELS Every year St Johns Church in Hythe like to inform the local community of their church service times in the most angelic of ways. As we get nearer to Christmas many readers will nd knitted angel keepsakes hidden around the local area with service times attached. e church aim to give away 750 of these little wonders and are calling for keen knitters to get involved. So far this year they have approximately 300 angels, thanks to the hard work of volunteers. A special mention must go out to the wonderful Joyce who is 100 years young and has been kindly knitting at stitching angels for the church for over 3 years. Joyce lives independently, cooking all her own meals and is an absolute inspiration to everyone at the church; they really wouldn’t know what to do without her! Do you have spare DK wool you would like to donate? Are you as keen knitter and have time on your hands? If so then please pick up at pattern, or drop wool o to the church on Wednesday mornings. Alternatively please call into the Herald o ce when you are out & about in Hythe to pick up a pattern. A er a long break due to the pandemic, the Foyer is OPEN again 10am – 12 noon Monday - Saturday at Cornerstone Hythe United Reformed Church. It’s a good place to relax with a refreshing mug of tea or lter co ee and biscuits and perhaps meet up with friends old and new for a chat. You will be very welcome! FOYER REOPENS at CORNERSTONE Every 2 weeks on a Tuesday morning from 9.30am -12nokon there’s a great TABLE TOP SALE at Cornerstone Hythe URC in New Road. ere is always a great selection of Electricals, Jewellery, Collectables, Kitchenware, Glassware, Bags, Toys, Puzzles, Bric- a-brac and an extensive library of Paperback Books, CDs, and DVDs. All proceeds go to the Cornerstone Outreach Fund supporting mission and outreach locally, in the UK and overseas. Upcoming sales are on Tuesdays 19th October; 2nd, 16th & 30th November, and 14th December . Co ee, tea, and biscuits are always available in the Foyer too! TABLE TOP SALES BACK at CORNERSTONE The annual Fawley Parish Church ‘Love in a Box’ campaign is taking place this year. In October, a small team of people will once again be lling shoe boxes with gi s of toys, stationery and toiletries. ese will be sent to Moldova in time for Christmas, for disadvantaged children aged 3-15. ey would like to ll as many boxes as possible, but they will need lots of help to succeed... Items needed for the shoeboxes are: • Small toys and games – but nothing war-related or battery operated • Teddies and dolls • Toiletries – but no liquids or sprays and no glass containers • Ha i r accessories and jewellery • Hats, scarves, gloves - but no socks or other clothing • Picture books – but not stories, as few can read English • Stationery • Wrapped sweets If you have any items to donate, please contact Carol for further details. e deadline for receipt of items is Saturday 9th October . ‘Love in a Box’ is organized by the Mustard Seed Relief Missions Charity. They Need Your Help… Christmas Tree Festival Hythe 2000 are intending to organise the extremely popular Christmas Tree Festival in Hythe again this year from Saturday 20th November to Sunday 5th December . e festival, which started 12 years ago with just 22 trees, has been held in St John’s Church Hythe annually, with over 60 trees and wreaths when it was last held in 2019. It has steadily grown in popularity to become an important community event loved by all, with visitors from far and wide. Decorated trees and wreaths are donated by local schools, playgroups, businesses, community groups and individuals. If you would like to contribute to the festival this year by donating a tree, please register your interest by emailing: hythe2000@gmail.com Trinity Church is pleased to announce they are open for services on Sunday mornings at 10.30am. You will need to book your space by calling: 023 8029 2046, masks are a must and social distancing must be observed throughout. ey look forward to welcoming everyone back to Trinity Church Totton. Trinity Church Totton Cornerstone Youth Club will now be running fortnightly on Friday evenings from 7.30-9.00pm for young people age 11-18. ere will be a variety of activities; cra s, cooking, games along with table tennis and snooker, or just chill and chat in the newly refurbished youth lounge. Youth Bible Study Group has now re-started, also meeting fortnightly on Friday evenings from 7.30- 9.30pm in the youth lounge for chat, Bible study and prayer. is is for young people ages 14-18 who wish to learn more about being a Christian through studying God’s word together, in a relaxed and fun way. Cornerstone Youth in Hythe ‘Counselling Together’ is a professionally trained counselling service for Men, Woman and Couples the local area. e counsellors are either accredited with the Association of Christian Counsellors, or the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists, or working towards accreditation, and all receive regular individual supervision. e Trustees are chosen from various Christian denominations and the service is also supported by medical and legal professionals. ey are incredibly pleased to, once again, carry out face-to-face counselling sessions with new clients, in addition to counselling remotely online. ey operate out of local churches and follow the current government guidelines for COVID-19. ‘Counselling Together’ is a registered charity and is very appreciative of the assistance and donations it receives. Donations are used exclusively to provide bursaries to support clients on low incomes. e service is open to those of all faiths or none.
