Stall holders and early visitors were delighted to see an Osprey ying quite low overhead as the day got underway. is event is sponsored by Hampshire County Countryside Services, New Forest National Park and Hampshire and Isle of Wight Wildlife Trust and other wildlife groups also attend. Visitors were able to view and chat with wildlife experts and particular interest was shown in the bird ringing group. Children enjoyed a wildlife trail and a chance to clamber over the Ranger’s tractor and boat. ere were also bird watching walks along the seawall. is is a very happy and relaxed event and many visitors stayed for several hours enjoying nding out about local wildlife whilst meeting up with friends. To help raise money which will be used within Lepe Country Park the Friends also sold second-hand books, Philip Fawkes’ new book Birds of Lepe and Friends of Lepe Calendars from the tea tent. Jumping for Mind Local Lady Hannah Jenks raised a whopping £720 for Solent Mind by jumping from 15,000 on Saturday 11th September. Hannah is thrilled to have smashed her initial target of £400 for the local charity and would like to thank everyone who kindly donated to her fundraising e orts. Hannah explains why she chose Solent Mind: “I wanted to raise awareness of the severity of poor mental health, as I have lost people close to me who have suffered with it.
