A er so many cancelled events recently, it was really nice to see people out and about in the sunshine, enjoying the end of the Indian Summer. Surplus apples had been collected from local gardens & the community orchard, whilst others had been donated by the John Lewis Partnership from Leckford. e aim of the event was to o er suggestions as to what people could do with their excess orchard fruits - thus reducing food waste. As well as apple juice, a range of apple-based snacks were available for people to try - the recipes for which can now be found on TTR’s website www.transitiontownromsey. weebly.com Over the weekend there was a steady ow of people of all ages dropping by to try their hand by the ‘National Lottery Community Fund’, helped put on this free event, to encourage the resurgence in interest in gardening and local food production. anks go to National Lottery players for making this possible. See you next year! at apple-pressing. e resulting juice was sampled, taken home to drink, or taken home to turn into cider (by the more adventurous!). e ‘Transition: Bounce Forward’ project funded A pressing time was had by all ARTS CENTRE BACK WITH BUMPER AUTUMN SEASON Hanger Farm Arts Centre is back with an eclectic autumn of entertainment a er an 18 month hiatus due to COVID- 19 restrictions. Household names like music legend Kiki Dee will be thrilling audiences once again under the beams of the converted 18th century barn in Totton. e season is evenmore hotly anticipated than usual, coming on the back of dozens of shows being postponed or cancelled due to COVID-19 restrictions over the last year and a half. is was a hugely di cult time for the Arts Centre, which is run by local charity Minstead Trust to help people with learning disabilities learn skills for work. e building was shut during lockdowns and ran just a few socially distanced shows and events in between, resulting in signi cant lost income. Now, with restrictions eased, there are dozens of a ordable and accessible shows on o er this autumn, including: • 1970’s comedy theatre show, ‘Abigail’s Party’ ( 11th November ) • Musicians Kiki Dee and Carmelo ( 26th November ) • Tribute act, Abba’s Angels ( 27th November ). Hanger Farm Arts Centre is a popular local venue that is accessible to all, a ordable and boasts a café bar, free parking and art gallery.
