Work, on the £457,000 scheme to create a staggered junction, started on Monday 4th October for around six weeks. Councillor Russell Oppenheimer, the County Council’s Executive Member for Highway Operations said: “I am pleased that these important improvement works will go ahead this autumn. We have worked closely with our partners at the National Park Authority, The New Forest Verderers, Natural England and Forestry England to get this high priority safety scheme underway and I would like to thank all involved.” For the duration of the works Yewtree Road will be closed between its junction with Beaulieu Road and the eld entrance (south west of the junction and north east of Ipley Manor Stables). No access will be available through this section of road, but access to properties from the west will be una ected. ere will be a short overnight closure of the roads on the approach to the crossroads whilst the carriageway is resurfaced to ensure the lining and markings match the new junction layout. is is expected to take place on the 26th–28th October. e improvements will include: • Relocating the western section of the junction (Yew Tree Heath Road) 50 metres south of its existing junction on Beaulieu Road, creating a clearly de ned ‘stagger’ to the existing junction layout; • Installation of a traditional ‘ nger post’ at the new junction and refurbishment of the existing post; • Installation of improved road signage that is more in keeping with the National Park, and “cyclists crossing” warning signs will be located on the north-south approach; • Removal of the ‘Stop’ signs and replacing with a standard ‘Give Way’ arrangement; • Updating the road markings to complement the new road layout.
