Jan Storey’s therapy career began over 20 years ago and for 16 of those Jan ran her own successful beauty salon. A er selling the salon Jan decided to take a slight detour on her career path and set up Compassionate Touch, giving therapeutic massage in residential care homes to people on their Dementia journey, those with Parkinson’s disease and those living with learning disabilities. Jan also volunteered as a therapist in the day care unit of a local hospice treating patients. Sadly in 2020 visiting residential homes was a no-go due to the pandemic, so Jan diversi ed and launched her very own private therapy room at home in the beautiful area of Bartley. Knowing the bene ts therapeutic massage can bring to so many, Jan explains: “I sincerely believe that our bodies carry our physical, mental, and emotional scars within their structure. Sometimes we hold on to issues that eventually manifest as aches, pains, stress, anxiety, sleep issues, causing us to feel down. This is your body telling you that something is wrong, and it is time you looked after you and your needs.” Jan is trained in a range of safe and e ective so tissue and massage techniques to treat a range of pain conditions including low back pain, neck pain, headaches whiplash, RSI, Fibromyalgia and many other ongoing injury or pain conditions. Client Holly immediately felt the bene t: “I can’t believe I waited so long! Jan wanted to know my medical history, explained what she could feel, what she was doing and why. I could truly feel her experience and knowledge coming through and ‘Compassionate Touch’ is such an apt business name for her healing hands. It felt medical, scientific and magic - honestly can’t recommend Jan enough.” Appointments are available most days, to t around busy schedules and accessibility is important to her, with her therapy room being on the ground oor and plenty of o road parking. Home visits may also be available by prior arrangement. A er a stressful year why not invest in yourself by listening to your body and booking an appointment? Or perhaps you know someone that could bene t from Jan’s treatments? Gift vouchers are the perfect Christmas present for someone who needs to put themselves rst for a change!
