Whether your loss is recent, months or even years ago, and you don’t need to have lost your loved one at Oakhaven, you can find support. ere are Bereavement Co ee Mornings usually on the 1st Wednesday of the month between 10am until 12noon and Bereavement Teas, on the 3rd Wednesday of the month between 1.30pm and 3.30pm . Both take place at the Coates Centre, located in the grounds of Oakhaven Hospice, Lower Pennington Lane, Lymington SO41 8ZZ. eir bereavement volunteers will welcome and make you a cuppa. You canmeet otherswhounderstandwhat you going through, and nd information and advice to help you cope, from one-to-one support, group support, wellbeing sessions and in time, when you are ready, more social activities to join. Just go along when you feel ready; if you are unsure then take a friend. The next Bereavement Tea takes place on Wednesday 15th December while the next Co ee Morning will be on Wednesday 5th January 2022 (there is no co ee morning in December). LYMINGTON AREA PARKINSON’S SUPPORT - EXERCISE GROUP Hythe Memory Group meet up every Monday, from 1.30pm until 2.30pm at Cornerstone (Hythe URC), New Road, Hythe. Families Matter run the support group which o ers cognitive stimulation therapy for people with early stage dementia. It encourages people to socialise and have fun learning and remembering together. Carers are also welcome to stay and have a cup of tea and chat to other carers. Cooking To Cope As part of its bereavement support and activities, Oakhaven Wellbeing o ers a six week Cookery Classes Course to anyone who has been bereaved. e next course starts on Tuesday 11th January 2022, running for six consecutive Tuesdays from 3pm until 5pm . Oakhaven’s Chefs, Hannah and Claire, and supported by a team of volunteers, teach basic skills of preparing vegetables, meat and sh to produce nutritious meal, increasing your motivation to cook, teaching valuable cooking skills and techniques alongside others who are in the same situation of having to prepare meals for the rst time a er losing a loved one. e course takes place in the Hospice kitchen, where you learn to prepare and cook a meal, then everyone sits down together to eat what has been cooked. e Coates Centre o ers support to anyone living across the New Forest, Waterside and Totton areas whose lives have been impacted by illness, along with family and friends, whether they are bereaved, have been diagnosed with or caring for someone with a long term illness. ere’s no need for a referral or be known to Oakhaven. e Coates Centre, open Monday-Friday from 10am until 4pm, o ers a place to meet and share with others who understand, and nd a path to help cope with everyday challenges.
