Emily Elvin has joined the global- sailing charity’s team as Fundraising O cer and will be managing the charity’s vital income streams. Maintaining communication with individual donors and supporting community fundraisers, the new recruit will be a point of contact for the JST’s important sponsors. And, having previously worked for a hospice charity managing events, Emily will be ensuring the sailing charity can tap into bigger fundraising opportunities, such as the London Marathon, to gather extra income. Emily said: “Building relationships with our on-going supporters is crucial. I will be keeping them up to date and thanking them for all they do. I will also be ensuring the JST can link up with larger events around the country, as a further fundraising channel.” With a mission that o ers people of mixed abilities the opportunity to explore their potential at sea, Emily is excited to be working with a charity that makes a real di erence to people’s lives. She added: “The work the JST do is truly amazing, and to play a part in that is a real honour. By securing on-going funds, the charity can continue to offer everyone incredible experiences at sea.” Working remotely from her home in Milton Keynes, Emily is bene tting from the sailing charity’s recent move to a virtual o ce, post-Covid. She said: “Living more than 100 miles away from JST’s headquarters in Southampton, working from home is perfect. The team and I meet regularly over Zoom, and I’ve already had the chance to meet most of my colleagues in person. This flexible way of working is ideal for me.” Patrick Fleming, JST’s Chief Executive is excited to be expanding the charity’s fundraising team. He said: “Like many other charities across the country, we have had to scale back our fundraising activities during the pandemic. Emily’s experience will be a real asset. Keeping in touch with our regular supporters and developing additional income streams is a significantly important aspect of what we do.” Outside of work, Emily is a keen runner and is kept busy with her Labrador puppy. Having sailed as a child, the new team member is looking forward to getting the chance to climb aboard JST’s agship, Tenacious , soon. e JST o ers people of all abilities the opportunity to climb aboard its tall ship Tenacious for an immersive sailing experience and relies on funding from the public.
