Measures that could be funded include solar panels, LED lighting, window replacements or insulation for buildings such as village halls and community centres. Councillor Jan Warwick, Hampshire County Council’s Executive Member for Climate Change and Sustainability, said: “These grants are designed to help communities across Hampshire tackle climate change in line with Hampshire County Council’s targets. Grants will be available to town and parish councils or local community groups, to make community buildings more energy efficient or adapt infrastructure to withstand predicted temperature rises. This is a great opportunity to effect positive change at a local level and I urge eligible groups to get in touch to show how they could use this funding to deliver environmental benefits.” Hampshire County Council declared a climate emergency in 2019 and is committed to becoming Carbon Neutral by 2050 and being prepared for a 2 degree rise in temperature. Grants will be available for projects that can demonstrate how they will contribute to these targets. e amount of funding available for any one project will depend on the overall level of demand, but there will be an absolute upper limit of £30,000 for any single organisation. e funds will bene t community buildings by helping to install energy e cient measures. is could include LED lighting conversion, improvements to heating systems, window replacements or solar panels.
