New Forest District Council, Eastleigh Borough Council, Test Valley Borough Council and Winchester City Council have joined together to launch the Central and West Hampshire Youth Employment Hub to connect, listen to and provide solutions for young people to nd employment and help secure their futures. Employment in young people has been significantly impacted by the coronavirus pandemic over the past year and a half. This project which is joint funded by the Department for Work and Pensions, provides Job Centre work Coaches, working closely with employers, training providers, schools, and colleges. e Central and West Hampshire Youth Employment Hub, in partnership with Department of Work and Pensions, will be providing face-to- face support from 1st November at a variety of locations within each of the four local authority areas. Andy Sherman, Employer and Partnership Manager at the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) said: “The launch of The Central and West Hampshire Youth Employment Hub is an important step in enhancing the lives of local young people. Through the joint effort of the Department for Work and Pensions and New Forest District Council, Eastleigh Borough Council, Test Valley Borough Council and Winchester City Council, it will provide effective, targeted and tailored support, moving more young people into employment”. At the hub, young people will be able to gain help, support, and advice on a range of training and employment opportunities and will be informed about local activities, such as local youth groups, sports clubs, drama and art groups and activity sessions. Councillor Michael Harris OBE, New Forest District Council Portfolio Holder for Business, High Streets and Tourism said: “ We are both proud and delighted to be able to offer this level of support to young people in the New Forest. The last 18 months have been especially tough for young people just starting out in their careers. We hope that with this initiative we can help them succeed in finding employment” Young people can now access the information on the New Forest District Council website: www. newf or e s t . gov . uk/youthhub and use the service to develop skills, find training opportunities and seek advice on employment.
