Suit Up as Father Christmas as Totton’s Most Active Festive Event Returns One of the main festive events for the people of Totton is returning a er a year of absence. e Totton Santa Run sees hundreds of runners, dressed as the big man himself, running around the streets of Totton. e runners will race in a 2.5 kilometre circular route on Sunday 12th December . Hosting the event is the 5th Testwood Scout Group, based on Blackwater Drive in Calmore, with volunteers from the group welcoming the runners, manning the road closures and handing out medals at the end. It is the main fundraising event for the group, with proceeds going to help the group deliver activities, camps and skills for life to a hundred young people from across Totton. Following the pandemic, the Scouts have been working hard to welcome young people back and getting them enjoying adventures in the outdoors again. eir hall is showing its age and needs major improvements ahead of their 60th people fundraising for international adventures and by the Scouts themselves of all ages. Plus with music, food and a ra e the event has plenty in store. e route takes in Library Road, Salisbury Road and Testwood Lane, starting and nishing in Library Road. e route passes Testwood School, Totton Library and St Winfrid’s Church where the Scouts at Testwood rst started. ese roads will be brie y closed from the start of the race until the runners have passed the road closures, usually around 20-30 minutes. Craig Challis, volunteer at 5th Testwood Scouts and lead for the event said: “It’ll be great to see Totton painted red again with Santa runners of all ages after such a long time. Events like this make such a difference to the lives of young people in Totton and the surrounding area and the wider community that participate. Running is good for you and great for our group too so what are you waiting for?” Samuel, a nine year old Cub Scout, said: “What I love about Santa Run is that everyone can do it. It’s not too far, I am with all my friends, it’s a great challenge and I love seeing everyone. Dressing as Santa is fun too and if you complete it you get a medal. Every year is different and I can’t wait to do it again.” Entries cost £14 for adults and £7 for under 12’s with family deals available. All runners get a Santa suit as part of the fee and a medal at the end of the run. Runners can book through Eventbrite and their website now.
