Members were in for a real treat when Mig Kimpton, National Demonstrator from Kent came to demonstrate at the November meeting. Mig had spent over thirty- ve years in the world of theatre before embarking on a career as a oral designer and demonstrator and has won many medals at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show and now runs his own Flower School in Kent. In a new and exciting departure, Mig is challenging his creativity by writing a series of bedtime stories inspired by his love of drama and all things oral. e Tale of the Golden Goose will be interpreted in owers with each design depicting a character from the story. Farmer Jack and daughter Gemma A milk churn was used for this design. Sun owers gave height in the centre with fatsia leaves to one side. Yellow chrysanthemums and small orange owers were added. A second arrangement was placed at the base and a willow pig completed this design. Sugar Plum Fairy and Land of Sweets A shocking pink dish placed on a pink stand came next. A trail of pink bunched chi on and sweets was attached depicting the Land of Sweets. Dyed eucalyptus and bergenia leaves provided the outline for this low design. Burgundy carnations and a horizontal line of purple anthuriums were inserted. A large sparkly mauve leaf was added to one side together with some mauve baubles. A second smaller arrangement was placed at the base. Queen Jasmine and Land of Flowers A large tall copper coloured container decorated with arti cial orange owers came next. Kentia palm leaves were placed to one side with fatsia leaves on the other side. Arching stems of orange euphorbia, beautiful orange roses and orange pincushion proteas were added. Gold baubles on sticks were inserted, the nal touch to this stunning arrangement. King Snow and Land of Snowflakes A slender tall pewter container was used for this design. Blue pine, ivy and viburnam tinis were inserted. Large white chrysanthemums, white button chrysanthemums, white lisianthus and white gerberas were added. A large silver sparkly leaf was added to one side and some silver cones to complete this white design. Christmas Tree Forest A metal rectangular stand with twisted vine at the base and some small green baubles attached to give interest for this forest design. Blue pine, conifer and a variety of other foliage provided the outline before green an atasia chrysanthemums, cream carnations, mauve hypericum berries and a beautiful green orchid was cut and placed throughout the design. ree slender gold candles completed this arrangement. Christmas For the last design a large bright red urn was used. Palm leaves were placed to each side with dyed eucalyptus and a variety of foliage completing the outline. Red hypericum berries, red carnations, red germinis, hydrangea and green button chrysanthemums were added. A golden goose was placed in the centre to complete this design. Mig amused and entertained the members with the story of the Golden Goose who laid a golden egg on Christmas Day.
