Wessex Vale Crematorium, just outside Southampton, is part of Westerleigh Group, the UK’s largest independent owner and operator of crematoria and cemeteries, with 35 sites in England, Scotland and Wales, all set within beautifully-landscaped gardens of remembrance which provide pleasant, peaceful places for people to visit and re ect. It opened in December 2009 to serve the communities of Eastleigh borough and surrounding areas. Wessex Vale Crematorium Site Manager Lisa Johnson said: “I felt very humbled and honoured that our crematorium was nominated for the AGFD Awards and was delighted when I learned we had won Best Crematorium of the Year. We always strive to achieve Westerleigh Group’s values and behaviours in all that we do. We believe in providing only the very highest levels of service for our families as we understand that the loss of a loved one is a truly devastating experience. At the last AGM in 2019 themembers voted forMarchwood and Hythe First Responders to be the chosen charity for the next year. A fantastic £660 was raised and forwarded to them in November 2020. With no meetings taking place until September 2021 fund raising continued for a second year for the same charity. Again another fantastic amount of £500 was presented to the 5 volunteers who came along on 5th November. e members were given an insight into the work of the volunteers and how they work alongside the emergency services. For 2021/22 the chosen charity is Oakhaven Hospice and money will be raised in memory of Mavis Stote who was a founder member of Hythe Wives and who passed away on September 18th. On Armistice Sunday a wreath was laid by Lesley at the memorial in prospect Place Park on behalf of the club. e next meeting will be on Friday 17th December and will be a members Christmas a ernoon tea starting at 2.30pm. Meetings are held on the 1st and 3rd Friday of the month 2.15pm to 4.30on in the Main Hall at St Andrews Centre Dibden Purlieu. Visitors and new members are always welcome.
