Retro Workshop specialize in the repair and restoration of vintage valve equipment such as Radios, Valve Ampli ers, Guitar Ampli ers and the like, but they also repair and restore non- valve equipment manufactured prior to 1985 including vintage HiFi systems. is type of older electronics equipment was never designed with obsolescence in mind, instead it was built with the ability of original service manuals, test equipment and spares, including newold stock valves allowing them to repair your equipment and maintain its originality. ey can even add Bluetooth to most radios so you can play your favourite tunes through your old radio! ey make sure equipment is safe to use during the repair and will advise on items that need to be replaced on safety grounds. Retro Workshop are passionate about the restoration of old equipment but not just the electronics. ey also work with a cabinet maker for instances where the case or cabinet needs restoring to its former glory. Despite all the odds being against them; the volunteers had no electricity due to major works in the surgery and it being a cold and windy day they went ahead with their plans. e volunteers and others had made homemade cakes and they drew their Christmas ra e. Christine has raised £8,000 for the new Summerhouse and moving the old shed to the bottom of the garden and giving it a new roof and oor. e major contributors were Dibden Allotments, ExxonMobil, Ineos, Hythe & Waterside Rotary, Hythe and Waterside Peoples Quiz. Christine and the volunteers also held plant sales, cream teas, sold bunting and held ra es to raise money. Local businesses have donated ra e prizes for which they are most grateful. e Summerhouse was erected by Elford Sheds from North Baddesley. e volunteers have given it a coat of paint but it will need another coat in the Spring. Events for 2022 include a children’s Easter egg hunt, Tai Chi exercises, garden and art classes and an Open Day on Saturday 23rd July . Christine and the volunteers would like to thank the whole community in supporting them in the development of the garden. e garden is open during surgery hours Monday to Friday.
