Anne-Marie joined the Marchwood Slimming World group in June 2020 and has lost a whopping 3½ stone. She shares that: “After having a major wardrobe purge I discovered that clothes that I hadn’t worn due to being in lockdown, no longer fitted. It wasn’t just a case of being a bit tight, they simply wouldn’t fit! I also noticed that climbing stairs were making me breathless. I decided to take the matter in hand and tried to lose weight my own way. A Slimming World leaflet had fallen through my front door about that time but as I was convinced I could do this alone, I just put it to one side. I was wrong! After a few miserable unsuccessful weeks of calorie counting and having no proper regime, I gave up and retrieved the Slimming World leaflet! I rang Tracy, the Marchwood consultant who was very encouraging and decided I may as well go and see what she has to say, I knew I could always walk away if I don’t like what I hear. However after my introductory talk about the plan and the group, I realised how easy it was! No calorie counting, loads of recipe ideas and lots of choice! All your favourite recipes, just a different way of making the dish and it even fitted perfectly with my vegetarian diet. I make time for myself by staying at the group every week and it is very friendly, there is lots of encouragement, tips and ideas to share. Tracy helps steer you back on course if you seem to be losing your way and the support of the group members really helps too, plus there’s plenty of recognition and certificates to be earned! Having an administrative job doesn’t involve much movement so I have also made walking a regular part of my day. I am now at my target weight and feel so much better and my clothes fit again, although I have enjoyed a few new items to add to my wardrobe! I am so glad I held on to that leaflet!” e Marchwood group meets at the Village Hall every Tuesday at 5pm , contact Tracy on: 07944 736119.
