Jennefer Walker, who owns and runs Jen’s Salon, a small home-based salon in Hythe, became interested in beauty therapy while in her native country of the Philippines. While living in Japan, she was inspired by the incredible attention to detail and level of customer service which characterises that amazing country. Already a quali ed carer and with a love of helping people, when Jennefer moved to Singapore with her husband, she decided to study beauty therapy. Over a three-year period, she gained professional quali cations from CIDESCO, CIBTAC and ITEC, which gave her the knowledge and skills to provide a comprehensive range of beauty treatments, including Swedish massage, facials, make-up, and waxing. Noting the high levels of stress in our busy modern lives, she chose for her dissertation to focus on re exology and how re exology techniques can help reduce stress. Upon moving to the UK, Jennefer put her skills to use, rstly at Grayshott Medical Spa and then at a local spa in Farnham, Surrey. Still in Farnham, she nally realised her dream of opening her own home salon. By taking the time to really understand and so be able to address each of her client’s needs, the salon quickly proved successful. Now Jen’s Salon is in Hythe and is open to all who would like to enjoy one of the many personalised treatments available. “I love being able to help people,” Jennefer says. “It’s really great that I can put into practice all I’ve learnt through my studies and experience and make a difference, even if small, to people’s lives. Getting to know my clients and hearing how they feel better after a massage makes it so worthwhile. And the people here are so friendly!” Stroke Café If you have been a ected by Stroke, go along to the Stroke Café which takes place monthly at Oakhaven Wellbeing’s drop-in Coates Centre on the second Wednesday of the month from 2pm until 4pm.
