Many I talk to these days no longer want to just get away, they want to do something more meaningful with their time – to go on a learning journey. Does that sounds like you? If so, a volunteering holiday may be the answer! ere are many reasons for volunteering – a chance to give back, or to learn new skills, or to build experience and knowledge. ere are plenty of opportunities, locally in Hythe or in the New Forest to get stuck in - in bookshops, with youth, working with the aged, in gardens, in woodland, in sport. e website: www.getvolunteering.co.uk is a great place to start your search – start by typing in “Hythe, Hampshire” or “Hampshire” - the list of choices is vast! But back to our holiday theme - Volunteering abroad is another option whatever your age. Not only is it a wonderful way to see the world, but it also means you make a positive impact whilst you travel. If that sounds like you and volunteering to work with animals, the environment or the community appeals – and Africa is on your bucket list – then do get in touch with us for a chat. Alexandra’s Africa is a local Tour Operating Company, offering a range of eco-cultural safaris, retreats & volunteering for mature travellers in Southern Africa. A car with four guys stopped, they used their vehicle to form a safe area and then managed the tra c in the dark and pouring rain e ciently and e ectively until the emergency services arrived. An o -duty nurse also stopped and checked my situation making me as comfortable as possible on the wet ground and ensuring I stayed awake. My motorbike was le on the drive of a nearby house until it could be collected for repair. I didn’t get the names of these Good Samaritans but want to say a huge ‘THANK YOU’ to you all for all you did. T: 023 8086 1278
