Far from it - but it is a time for re ection. ey think of those they have tried to help over the years and their families. ey are reminded of the unwavering commitment of the trained volunteers, past and present, and the support given by their families. During the pandemic they have taken additional steps to protect themselves but have still responded to every request for assistance. ey will continue to do so on behalf of the police and for local communities. ey are always looking to recruit more members for both their search and supporter teams and are especially keen on hearing from people who are medically trained, water rescue trained and available during o ce hours. Visit: www.hantsar.org for more information. STORAGE WANTED COULD YOU HELP? e Handy Trust would like to show its appreciation to the Waterside Christmas Appeal 2021. It could not have been as successful without the hard work and leadership of Lisa and So a Richardson. It is hard to think of where to start, so let’s begin with thanks to Claire of Admin 1, Dibden Allotment Funds and Counsellor Alan Alvey who supplied much-needed nance to buy gi s. ank you to Tesco (Sizer Way), who donated six family Christmas dinners and collected presents for the Appeal. Next to thank is the Waterside Women’s Facebook group who generously supplied gi cards for some of the older children. Our appreciation goes to the following small businesses who o ered to be collection points: Compuco in Black eld; WH Smith in Dibden Purlieu; Fawley Express, Stonehill Farm and Gang Warily Scout & Guide HQ in Fawley; the larger Co-Op and urstons (our brilliant sign maker) in Holbury; Admin No1, Hays Travel and Busy Bees Pre-school in Hythe and nally ABC Flowers, Manor Bakery, Pococks Estate Agents and Marchwood Youth Hub all in Marchwood. ese local drop-o points made life so much easier. But our indebtedness doesn’t stop there. anks are due to the many anonymous angels that have given toys, toiletries, clothes (including many hand-knitted mittens and hats) and monies for presents and Christmas feasts for these families. Because of the generosity of local people, small businesses and charities, The Waterside Christmas Appeal provided presents for over 203 children from approximately 40 families. At least ten families also received a gi card or Christmas dinner. is could not have happened without your generosity. All of the above help is appreciated. Finally, e Handy Trust wishes to thank Santa for coming out with us in the mini bus on the 10th and 17th December and giving out treats to some lucky children in Hythe and Marchwood. We Watersiders should be proud of our community and its generous spirit.
