Animals at Barry’s Farm in Frost Lane, Hythe have been entertaining local children and adults alike for over 50 years. The donkeys, alpacas, goats, chickens, ducks, geese are adored by many. Of course, we can’t forget dear old Maggie the Pig who loves nothing more than a good roll in the mud! But of course, animals take A LOT of looking a er. is care and commitment also comes at a huge nancial cost, with constant food and vet bills to pay it can all add up to a tidy sum. To raise funds for this amazing cause, local animal artist and volunteer Christine Jones has put her creativity and talent to good use, producing a beautiful greetings card suitable for all occasions. On sale at the Herald Office, Hythe for just £2 each (cash please!) the card features all the animals on the farm and ALL proceeds from the sale of the cards will be going directly to the care of the animals. As a community we can all play a part in helping Barry’s Farm continue and thrive for future generations to enjoy. Smiles, Santa, Singing and Sirens at Sundial Report from Sundial Cottage On Monday 20th December we had the pleasure of the re engine coming to visit us at Sundial Cottage in Fawley. Some of our residents like so many in a care home, didn’t have the chance to get out and about last year. So they put on a fun packed Christmas to put smiles on faces at sundial. e re engine dedicated a whole evening to care homes as they felt they are so deserving, last year more than ever. e sirens and singing could be heard from the end of the lane, the re engine then pulled in and Santa and his helpers then came over to spread their cheer. Santa and Ken have made plans to share a bottle of scotch next time. ey chatted with our residents and played music the residents sang and danced, it was really lovely. We were joined by some of the sta s family and our neighbors came to visit. A er they le everyone in the home was buzzing and we are so thankful that we all got to enjoy this. A er over 40 years of meeting as an evening W.I, Waterside members have now started meeting as an a ernoon W.I. Meeting in Dibden Community Centre, in Jones Lane car park, they meet at 1.30pm for 2 hours on the second Tuesday in the month . With a reduced membership this group of W.I friends intend to meet for friendship, to listen to interesting speakers and to practice new cra s. ey very much look forward to meeting new members with similar interests.
