Heartbeat House o ered Lucy and her family treatment was a weight off our minds. It’s heart- warming to see Wessex Heartbeat working so hard to ensure that families like ours have a safe and comfortable place to stay.” Showing her appreciation for the help she received at a stressful time, Lucy also completed the London Marathon in October last year to raise funds for Wessex Heartbeat. She added: “I really want to give back to the charity that helped us at such a difficult time.” John Munro, Chief Executive of Wessex Heartbeat, said: “We are delighted to have completed the £65,000 refurbishment of our bathrooms with another £60,000 committed to refurbish and update our kitchen, bedrooms and lounge roof. Heartbeat House is without doubt the ‘beat’ of our charity’s ‘heart’ and is a critical service for the family and carers of those who are looked after in the Cardiac Centre. None of this would be achievable without the support of our local community, who even through these difficult times are still passionate about supporting us. We are continually humbled by their support and hope they will continue to support us where they can.” To donate to the Heartbeat House appeal: www. heartbeat.co.uk/Appeal/heartbeat-house-appeal. To celebrate the completion of the rst phase of this hugely anticipated refurb, Wessex Heartbeat invited one of its biggest supporters, Lucy Dean (31) from Basingstoke, to cut an o cial ribbon. Lucy stayed in Heartbeat House for two weeks in 2016 when her mum was undergoing heart treatment in Southampton General in 2016.
