Examples of what could be funded include new, replacement or repair of equipment, coaching costs and volunteer development, and activities that help grow participation. Jacqui Scott, CEO at HIWCF said: “Since the beginning of the COVID-19 crisis, we appreciate the value of our outdoor spaces and local community recreation areas more than ever, particularly for improving our physical and mental wellbeing. Additionally, sport and physical activity can be an important catalyst to ‘levelling the playing field’ for people with disabilities of all natures, and those suffering from mental health issues and social isolation.” The Hampshire Playing Fields Fund means we can provide grant funding to help organisations achieve a better and more sustainable future and increase participation by people from a wide range of backgrounds”. Full guidance and details on how to apply for the Hampshire Playing Fields Fund is available on the HIWCF website: www.hiwcf.org.uk/grants/ and applications must be submitted by the closing date of 7th February. Grants Available for Vulnerable People in Hampshire Hampshire County Council’s Executive Member for Adult Services and Public Health, Councillor Liz Fairhurst, has approved funding for innovative local projects across the county which aim to support people - speci cally anyone deemed to be clinically vulnerable or clinically extremely vulnerable, to recover from the past year and focus on the future. Councillor Fairhurst said: “The pandemic has had a major impact on many aspects of our lives, but for some, getting going again and back to a semblance of normality is proving very difficult. This grants programme is designed to assist local organisations – be they community groups or local councils – in their work to support vulnerable people, to help them recover from the impacts of the pandemic and return to more normal ways of life, in a way that is safe.” e Getting Going Again Fund of £950,000 is divided into 11 lots, aligned to the county’s 11 district and borough councils, with the amount of money available dependent on the number of clinically extremely vulnerable residents living in each area. To help fund this particular set of grants, Hampshire County Council will use a proportion of the wider £4 million funding from Government to support people in Hampshire who are clinically extremely vulnerable or clinically vulnerable. Organisations interested in applying for grants can nd further information on the County Council’s website: www.hants.gov.uk/community/grants/ grants-list/get-going-again Deadline 21st March .
