The Burns Night Supper and Ceilidh , which celebrates the legendary poet Robert Burns, will now take place on Saturday 26th February. The Hendy Wessex Heartbeat Cycle Sportive , which is now running in its 6th year, has been moved to Sunday 20th March. John Munro, CEO of Wessex Heartbeat said: “It’s a real shame to delay these two great dates on our fundraising calendar, but the most important thing is the safety of all involved.” e charity’s Burns Night event will take place at Chilworth Manor and will include a sumptuous three- course dinner with ‘haggis and neeps’ served to the rousing sounds of an authentic Piper. Guests will also have the chance to show o some fancy footwork as they dance to traditional reels from the Woodsiders Ceilidh Band. e legendary ‘Address to a Haggis’ poem will also be read by Robbie Burns, a heart transplant patient from Winchester, and long-term patient of the Wessex Cardiac Centre at Southampton General Hospital. e following month, the Hendy Wessex Heartbeat Cycle Sportive will take place in the beautiful Test Valley, commencing and nishing in the grounds of Embley Park in Romsey. Participants will have the chance to take on a 40-mile route, or a more challenging 70-mile course. Taking cyclists through Romsey over to Winchester, Stockbridge and Broughton where the 70- and 40-mile routes split, the longer route travels over to Salisbury and the shorter 40-mile route travels back to Romsey via East Tytherley. Money raised from both the Cycle Sportive event and Burns Night will go to Wessex Heartbeat and will go towards the cardiac charity’s refurbishment of its home-from-home Heartbeat House. John Munro added: “ Events like this are crucial for helping raise vital funds for Wessex Heartbeat. They are both set to be fantastic days for all involved and we look Robbie Burns, a heart transplant patient, will read at the Burns Night event forward to seeing everyone take part.” Tickets for the Burns Night and Supper and Ceilidh cost £45.
