As a HUGE INCREASE IN DOGS BEING GIVEN UP by Dogs2Foster e pandemic has a ected everyone one way or another but with the nancial impact of COVID- 19 and Brexit now taking hold as well, many dog owners are giving up their dogs and the problem is signi cantly increasing day by day. Most rescue centres were at full capacity before the pandemic, there simply isn’t space for all these dogs let alone resources to pay for their care. Please consider adopting a dog rather than buying one. e demand for puppies during the last 18 months is now causing a signi cant increase on dogs aged 1–2 years being relinquished through no fault of their own. Many dogs are frequently given up because of behavioural problems. Most of these behaviours are caused by stress in the dog’s environment and lack of exercise and stimulation. ese problems can be easily resolved, most of the time it is the owners themselves Could you open your heart to a dog in need of a loving home? that have caused the problem and not the dog being bad or naughty. We have many resources and courses on our website written by Canine Behaviourists’ and dog trainers to help dog owners that won’t break the bank if you can’t a ord training classes for your dog. If you are having problems with your dog, call us to speak to a Canine Behaviourist who can advise the best course of action straight away and help with solutions. Rescue centres don’t have a magic wand to care for the increasing numbers of animals being given up. Speak to a professional before making a hasty decision; we owe it to the animals, we have chosen to look a er them for life. Over 20,000 dogs were put to sleep every year BEFORE the pandemic, giving up your dog makes their future uncertain.
