Spring is always a popular time to focus your e orts on your garden and it’s an important one too. Get your spring gardening jobs right and your garden will look glorious well into autumn. Gardening is still thriving o the pandemic boom, with many garden centres still trading 25% higher than in 2019. And with that in mind, maybe it’s time for you to join the garden-loving club this spring? We’ve selected a few of the important spring gardening jobs for you to do so that your garden gets o to a great start in 2022. Jet washing is is a really simple spring gardening job that has a big impact. A er the winter where leaves, moss and mud build up in damp weather it can leave your patios and paths looking dull and dirty. Getting hold of a jet wash or asking us to come and give them a good clean is a good idea in spring. Cleaning o the dirt from your patio will make your garden look smart and fresh and will also make them a lot less slippery which helps prevent any accidents. Treating your patio and paths with Wet & Forget will stop the re-growth of algae and moss so that it stays cleaner for longer. Prune roses For most non-climbing roses, spring is the best time to prune. You can easily see any branches that are dead and can re-shape the rose bush so that it is neat and tidy when it re- owers. e BBC has some tips on how to prune roses if you’re a beginner. You can buy good fertiliser from any local garden centre and you can choose organic fertilisers if you’re concerned about the environment and your garden’s eco-system. We’d only recommend seeding your lawn if you’re trying to cover patches – turf is much less time consuming for large areas and you can achieve much cleaner lines. If you’re going to be seeding, then make sure you’ve got all the necessary tools – B&Q has a handy guide to sowing grass seed and getting the best out of it. Plant summer bulbs If you thought that bulbs were just for spring owers then think again. Some of the most stunning owers, like Dahlias, are summer flowering bulbs and can bring some striking colour into your garden. Summer bulbs need to be planted in spring when the ground is slightly warmer and you need to give careful thought on where to plant them in your garden. Most summer flowering bulbs love sunlight, so they need a sunny spot in your garden for them to ourish. Dahlias, Agapanthus, Begonias and Gladioli are all fantastic summer flowering bulbs and
