SPORT IN THE HERALD Bramshott Hill Seniors Results On Monday 10th January Bramshott Hill Seniors took to the course for the rst time this year and are looking forward to another successful year under the guidance of their new captain, Stuart Bulbrooke. Sadly, due to the poor and very wet weather of late the course is not in the best of conditions and only nine holes were open. No trolleys or buggies are allowed on the course so all clubs have to be carried which resulted in a lower turnout for the competition. e competition being played was a ‘Blind Pairs Stableford’. is is played as single Stableford until the end when all players names and scores are put into a hat and Pairs were then drawn, both players scores were added together to produce the ‘Pairs’ score. e results were as follows: 1st Paul Wastell/Brian Cox , 2nd Mike Newland/Chuck Stone , 3rd Mike Wells/ Jeff Andrews . Nineteen players took part. Monday 17th January and once again the Bramshott Hill Seniors were looking forward to their weekly competition. Sadly, the winter weather was still causing disruption with half of the course being closed due to ground conditions and the holes that were open could only be played if players carried their bags, no buggies or trolleys allowed. is resulted in a reduced number of players, 29 brave souls embraced the conditions and still played. e game was again a Blind Stableford with teams being picked out of a hat a er all scores were in. e results were as follows: 1st K Rothwell, R Gooding, C Ston e, 2nd M Wells, B Lewis, M Newland , 3rd M Eves, J Bailey, B Merrett . Good news on Monday 24th January as the Dibden Golf Course was once again fully open with trolleys allowed to be used. is resulted in a larger turnout for the Bramshott Hill Seniors Monday morning match. A total of 31 Seniors took to the course in high spirits to play the full course for the rst time this year. e competition was a Stableford Non-Quali er game played o the Yellow Tees of the Day. e weather was dry and calm but still very cold. e results were good for the conditions and the scores were as follows; Division One: 1st Barry Walker , 2nd Kevin Rothwell , 3rd Brian Lewis. Division 2: 1st John Bailey, 2nd Jeffrey Andrews, 3rd Gerard Murphy . Bramshott Ladies Waltz into New Golfing Year It was a cold January morning when the ladies of Bramshott Hill dusted o their gol ng shoes for the rst fun competition of the year, the 3-2-1 Waltz. Congratulations must go to all who played in the cold winter weather and heavy ground conditions but a special mention must go to the winning team of Jo Renyard, Cathy Davis and Liz Christian who with a combined score of 70 points beat Julie Weatherdon, Jane Physick and Alison Jones into second place (61points). In third place came Hilary Hanmore, Su Leonard and Viv Boot (55 points) Another cold morning saw the start of the 20th January stableford non quali er event. Played over 11 holes it was a close game with Julie Weatherdon winning on countback from Hilary Bell both with 21 points. Pan Colmer came third, just one point behind on 20. e Irish sixes fun game played over 11 holes saw a very close nish, with the winning team of Jo Renyard, Hilary Bell and Mary Annetts with a combined score of 79 beating Lesley Mortimer, Elaine Thomas and Wendy Davis by only 1 point. In third place one point behind them came Julie Weatherdon, Cathy Davies and Pam Kellaway . Meanwhile on the short 9 hole course saw the winning team of Pat Greenham, Pearl Hansford and Jan Richardson celebrating their win. GIRL POWER! At Fawley RFC Juniors they’re growing their girl’s rugby team. They’d love to hear from you if you fancy a go - no experience necessary! ey welcome girls of all ages from school years 7-11 to make up their older girls’ team, but also welcome girls in their younger teams from school years R-6. ey have a dedicated girls management team with RFU quali ed coaches, trained rst-aiders and referees on hand each week at training. All their adults are fully DBS checked and they have a dedicated Safeguarding O cer for the club. Older girls train on Sundays at 10am and the younger girls start at 9.30am at Fawley’s Gang Warily pitches . You will be welcomed by all their rugby family to their bespoke pitches where you can also buy hot food and drinks every Sunday. Older girls get to compete in the RFU Waterfall programme once a month where they get to play against other girls’ teams from across Hampshire. HARDLEY RUNNERS ‘TWO BEGINNER COURSES’ FOR 2022 Hardley Runners are delighted to announce that as a result of a charity donation, this year there will be Two Beginner Courses in the local community. Each course will start on Monday 28th March at 6.20pm (ready to start at 6.30pm) lasting for 10 weeks. e new course will take place at Black eld, meeting at the Gang Warily Sports Centre, Newlands Road. As before the Hythe Course will meet at Dibden Enclosure on the long eld parallel to the A326 (near the pylon). e Couch to 5K Courses are for Absolute Beginners and are adapted to a person’s ability. What better way to discover the joy of running, meet new people, have fun and at the same time get t or tter. Alternatively, if you have run before, but need some help and motivation to restart and maintain your running, you will be most welcome. Results & News 2022 With the festive season well and truly over, New Forest Martial Arts has resumed its full schedule of classes including traditional Jiu Jitsu and submission grappling. On Tuesday evening , St. John’s Hall in Hythe sees a class of mixed age and sex practising this Martial Art form. Fathers and sons share this activity which brings them closer together (literally). Women looking for self-defence training in a safe environment as well as youngsters just looking for a di erent way to spend their evening are also there. Similarly, on Thursday at Marchwood Scout Hall, a more adult group meet to enjoy this di erent form of exercise. Both classes are led by Sensei Josh Crawford.
