Carole explained that if we can dramatically reduce our use of foam we can help protect nature for future generations. Her rst design was a vase of mixed coloured tulips using a clear tape grid (over the top of the vase) and twigs to support the tulips (grow and bloom once in water, light and warmth). Beautiful, spring in a vase! Second was a sensational spring basket using biodegradable orist foam (recently improved). Care to leave the handle accessible; eucalyptus and a variety of greenery – shades, leaf size, volume to create a so space for her variety of owers in spring colours. ese included purple liatris, pale pink tulips, burgundy and mauve alstroemerias, purple and white scented lisianthus and white spray rose buds. ird was a stunning, sunny yellow arrangement in a black pedestal container. Out of the arrangement came a “fountain” of ve sun owers secured with copper wire. Fourth was a wooden base with a vertical design including a trio of Nashville lemon lilies anked by two trios of sun owers, interspersed with purple hyacinth. – begonia leaves, prunus, rubus, umbrella plant, ferns, dotted with mauve clematis. So peach and pale apricot ranunculus, sandersonia (orange lantern owers) and skimmia were some owering beauties she used. Five lucky ladies won arrangements in the ra e a er refreshments.
