Eling Tide Mill Experience has recently Eling Tide Mill Experience Miller, Pete Ram announced the appointment of their new Miller, Pete Ramm. Pete has grown up in the local area, attending Testwood School and has worked around the Waterside, and further a eld, in di erent engineering roles. Always looking for a challenge, he then became a self-employed Gardener and Handyman. With a keen interest in history and engineering Pete is now taking on the role of Miller. He will be demonstrating the tide mill’s machinery to visitors as well as producing the our that is on sale to the public and maintaining the historic machinery. Pete comments: “As a child passing by the Mill I was fascinated by the building and its history. Now to have the opportunity to maintain and continue a tradition going back hundreds of years, absolutely fabulous! The chance to work in a sustainable way with centuries old technology, for me is a dream come true.” Pete takes over from previous miller, Matt Painter, who is returning to train Pete in the dying art of milling wheat into our by harnessing the power of the Tide. Eling Tide Mill Experience is open at weekends, 11am–4pm. From April 6th the tide mill will be open Wednesday– Sunday 10.30am–5pm. Visitors are able to see the power of the tide turning the water wheel and powering the millstones; explore the history in the interactive exhibition; stroll along Eling Creek shoreline and relax with a co ee in the Mill café.
